It's not a joke or a crazy thought to think that if you ask for something everyday, it will come to you. Many people talk about it, train others about it, pay to learn about it. However, it doesn't just come to you out of nowhere, you have to put your heart and soul into it to make it happen. Hard work, dedication, and passion are only a few things that will help you, but it takes a lot more than that. Late nights, endless conversations, phone calls, emails, planning, organizing, planning again, failures, disappointment, maybe some tears along the way, sleepless nights, lack of faith, lack of belief, and sometimes lack of money too!, haha.
Let me tell you a story
A few years ago, I had a job, earning pretty good money at the time, I had a great relationship with my boss and my co-workers, I always gave my 150% and beyond, because I believed in the cause of the company, I knew they were my vehicle to go change the world. This job was basically my life, I breathed it, lived it, pampered it. Until one day, they decided I was no longer needed in the company. Harsh!! Yes, it was the hardest time in my professional life so far, I cried, I was confused for awhile, I didn't know where to go next, I had just become part of the statistics as my brother said when I called him to let him know the horrible news (I thought it was a horrible thing at the time). It was tough, no lie there.
What it takes to find "IT"
Now, I don't tell you my story so that you can cry with me or feel sorry for myself. I don't cry about this anymore, are you kidding? (I did for about an hour or two back then). I am actually glad it happened because I was trapped working and fulfilling the dreams of someone else, and I was going to stay there for as long as I could, but at the end, I was just another employee. I tell you my story so that you have a better understanding of what it takes to find "IT", that thing you ask the universe over and over and you don't seem to get yet. It will come, sooner or later, if you work hard (and everything else I said before) it will come. For the next few years, I said to myself: "Celi, you have to go work for other companies and non profits to get educated and gain the proper knowledge to get ready for the future". At that point was no longer about the money, it was more for the experience. Yes, I kept asking the universe for an opportunity as an entrepreneur and a year ago the time came. My friend Clara Valles and I had gone through endless conversations about where to start, how to start, what exactly we were going to focus on, until we said, no more talking, lets start doing. Today, a year later, we are doing, and we are doing well. We are definetely the lucky ones, those that can be called the crazy ones "...because the people that are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do" - Steve Jobs -
We might be called crazy
In Soul Trips, we might be called crazy, yes! but we believe that nothing will happen unless we make it happen. We believe in the power of one act of kindness at the time, in giving, because we know eventually we will receive. In the power of traveling and seeing our own needs in the needs of others, we believe in partnership and teamwork. We believe in the potential when people transform themselves while traveling. Come join us as we start our second year of this adventure, as we are still asking the universe for what we want and working hard to get it. What are you asking the universe?
