My name is Clara and I’m originally from Parral, Chihuahua (yes you read it right, CHIHUAHUA, like the dog), a small town in the north of Mexico. Lawyer and actress by destiny (the most strange combination), traveler by passion.
I grew up in a loud big family of 7 (mom+dad+2 brothers+2 sisters+me), all of us very different from each other but at the same time, we are the best friends in the world, our profiles go from scientist, designer, accountant, engineer, and of course me, the hippie-glam sheep of the family.
Always eager to discover the world and fascinated about other cultures I started my first “solo” adventure when I was 18 years old, right after graduating high school. Then I went back to reality, I mean university. But, once you experience the world, you are ready and willing to go out and keep on discovering.
I like to become part of the place.
Through the years and through my trips I’ve found that I have my own personal style when it comes to traveling...I love to learn about other people, the way they live, eat, what they love, what do they do for fun, in what are their believes... In other words, I like to become part of the place, and live as a local even if it’s for a day or two. Like that time I was invited for Iftar with a Pakistani community during Muslim holy month of Ramadan, or when I taught dancing lessons in a school for deaf kids in The Philippines.
I’m the director of a non profit organization that provides education through sports to teenagers from vulnerable areas in Monterrey, Mexico, as well as cofounder of a NGO that promotes women empowerment, because I believe that we all can learn a lot from giving to others in need. I love to do yoga and meditation, and I try to bring its teachings to my daily life.
Of course, I love to visit the landmarks in every place I go, but I also love to sit at a coffee shop and talk to locals, or visit a community in need, where I can share my time, experiences or work with them.
And by now you are probably wondering how did Soul Trip started. Well I’ve known Celi for over 10 years, and during this time we have been friends, we’ve worked together, we have organized events, done volunteer work, TRAVELED, grabbed drinks, etc.
We always had the desire of sharing our 2 biggest passions (traveling + volunteering) with the world, so, after many projects and attempts, we came up with this awesome idea that allows us to do so, while connecting with people from all over the world.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone that will travel with us!!
